Glutton Sundays

This has got to be the most epic feasting we've had since a long time. I know we sorta eat good food all the time (delectable hawker food and home cooked dinners, etc) but last Sunday was beyond awesome. We just indulged for no apparent reason nor celebration. YAY. I absolutely heart hanging out with family on Sundays.. actually EVERYDAY. Don't you judge me... Even the most self righteous prude cannot resist orgasmic food (:

First off, Afternoon tea at The Courtyard, Fullerton Hotel. Read a lot of reviews and did some research about Afternoon Teas, they are apparently the most raved about but turned out to be just average in terms of food quality, tea selections and ambience. There's 2 separate seatings. Apparently the first one starts at 2pm and we have to leave by 4pm. We arrived slightly off 2.45pm for a 2.30 booking... I know i know... The expectation for weekends is always about the fashionable lateness...(oops). Our food came like 20mins later after we ordered. Service was alright but too slow... so we were pretty prepared to argue an extension should they attempt to drive us out at 4pm. We didn't have to eventually cus there wasn't much patrons, probably because everything was so average. We were given 2 separate 3-tiered trays with a good mix of sweet & savoury Tapas bites. We have 7 person but were only recomended 2 trays plainly due to the lack of space on the table. Imagine us having a pot of tea each and the plates and what not decorated on it so yeah... not much space left. The good news (the only good news) was we get to change our tea after the first pot and the tapas bites are unlimited. But the bad thing was we have to keep asking the waiters to replenish the ones we want.. so he has to awkwardly pick the dainty tapas one at a time and place them on the tiers...sometimes they fall off cus the waiter has shaky hands. LOL. The price tag's riding on the brand, nothing fantastic about the food. I am serious.. I don't know why so many think they are great... I've had better for one. If you remember, we tried the Rose Veranda at Shang Gri-La last year and it was wayyyy better. Tea was unlimited and there's buffet and even sashimi! Hmmm..If there's anything worth raving about, it can only be the Creme Brulee! Anyhooo... here are the photos!

I have the cutest mommy. Just look at her gu niang pose while waiting for the food that took forever to arrive.
Martin is highly stressed out over which pastry to pick.

Daddy eating my absolute faves - Creme Brulee! ALL MINE!

Scones!
The 2 thought it was totally apt to bring along their HDB pamphlet to study. hahaaa..

Was still feeling kinda queasy after a whole week of indigestion and illness.... Our faces look exceedingly fat cus we stuffed ourselves with too much carbo as you can see.

Next, we killed some time shopping in town (Mommy's idea) and to cut the story short, she bought a Longchamp tote for herself but found a prettier bag for her documents from CK shortly after... Who carries documents in a $300+ bag?! Only atas aunties her age does and can afford. Minions like us will end up leeching off rejects like the Longchamp bag she bought 30 seconds ago. LOL. checkout the awesome fall color on one of my Instagram pics above. I LOVE IT! Thanks, mommy!

And for the finale, we had to make up for the less than impressive brunch at Fullerton. We were craving oysters and such since teatime (i know i know....never satisfied, lol) We randomly came across this unchartered territory in Ion cus we were too tired from walking and walking.. so decided to give it a shot since it has oysters on its menu and i singled out PAN SEARED TUNA on the list too so it's a must-go if not i'll go to sleep angry and irrate at night. Low and behold, turned out this was more than just a pleasant surprise. We cannot rave enough about the restaurant the moment we stepped into the lift.

SALT Bar & Grill by celebrity chef Luke Mangan. It has the nastiest view of the entire town and the Marina bay. Needless to say, the food was beyond awesome. The only word worthy for description is - Orgasmic.

PS: Before you start doubting my experience because of the suspiciously unattractive photos I am posting, they weren't taken by me... I stole them from my cousin cus I was too immersed by my own presence in the restaurant. No lah, was too awestruck and my phone's battery was flat. ha. In essence the food tasted better than they looked (:

We had a hard time finding the lift lobby from the art gallery cus it was too unnecessarily dark.  Good thing the lady at the gallery assisted us (:

Dining from the Top.

I usually eat my oysters with lots of tabasco sauce but the dressing was so good we just had it like that! They also weren't as huge as those at the buffets (:

The legendary pan-seared SCALLOPS for starters! Bee and I were too thrilled when we finally had a taste of what Hell's kitchen's like. The broth was sooo thick and full of flavour with chunks of crab meat. So GOOD!
Crab Omelette - Mind blowing plate of goodness.

Bee and daddy ordered a ribeye cut. The men & their meat.

firstly, i have to say the picture doesn't do the tuna any justice. It's the only picture with flash for some reason. I absolutely LOVE pan seared TUNA. They did it soooo well i can eat it everyday (if it is free). haha. I love how they only serve with french beans and a cut of lime <3 p="p" ultimate="ultimate" yumtums="yumtums">

Ferts & Kelly's Salmon with dumplings. Not a fan of salmon but was still impressed by the platting. Oh! the cherry tomatoes tasted fabs too (:

the family fave - Truffle Fries! (bad photo quality again, oops!)

All in all we had so much good food I had diarrhea when i got home. I kid you not. It's not the food or oyster like you imagined... everyone was fine. It was plainly cus of my weak tummy and constipation the past week :P

Till then, wait for my next entry 10,000 years later. Byyyeeee!

troubles.

I'm too old to rant about friendship issues but it is so true when they say as you grow older and wiser, it becomes clearer to you who are the real keepers.

The only thing that remains constant in a lifetime of friends walking in and out is plainly me -

If we always have to plead for the Benefit of Doubt, where does the understanding fit in?

Well, life's too short. I'm glad i've found at least one exception that doesn't drain me.
